Fight!

The final claiming of Earth has begun, or so our dear villains believe. As far as they're aware, there are no Rangers left to stop the invasion. Now it's simply a matter of 'persuading' humanity to surrender. Rita and company charge in, guns blazing so to speak. Their presence is quickly felt in Angel Grove's business district, turning over statues, flipping cars, and trapping citizens until they cower together in the fountain for shelter.

Unfortunately, there's a wrench in that plan arriving. Streaks of colored light hit the sky---white, black, red, orange, yellow, pink, blue. A horde of humanoids (and one pony) stand in the center of the action, witnessing all the damage. They've been given just their morphers and some cryptic advice: rely on the Power, it will protect you.

It was time to find out just how far their power could take them. Could this Earth be saved after all?

[ooc: Thread it up! Run away, challenge baddies! I'll put up one or two threads for my own NPCing, but feel free to NPC your own monsters in your tags. The Zord battle section will be posted later, so watch this post! Villains, feel free to come down and taunt for some interaction as well.]

The Fountain

There's a whole horde of simple gray humanoid monsters dancing around the fountain, taunting the terrified people tied to the statue of a bull in the center. Care to rescue them, Rangers?

The Bank

Elsewhere, the little soldiers are having a field day at the bank! They carry large sackfuls of cash out, raining cash confetti in the streets and thwapping anyone who dares oppose them with heavy bags of coins.

The Street

Cars are being overturned, oh no! This is the most dangerous group of all. Little gray soldiers attack cars mercilessly, some with passengers still in them. Terrified people are thrown across the street as their cars are set on fire, creating a delicious backdrop of chaos and burning money.

"Oh no you don't!"

Applejack responds by bucking bags of coins back at the attackers. Some of them fall, and she lets out a whoop of joy. But there's the problem of how the other monsters will react...

"Get out of here!" she yells to the passing folk in the street. Human they might be, and she's heard that she shouldn't trust them, but she doesn't like to see them get burned. For their part, they don't seem to take her seriously.

...Uh oh.

Danger? Danger was Goku's middle name (okay not really), and in this instance, at least, it was clear who the bad guys were. He held his bo out in front of him in a ready stance, somersaulting onto the top of a parked car to shout at the nearest group of gray guys.

"Hey, you! Quit pickin' on people! If you're lookin' for a fight, it's right here!"

In response, the baddies simply shrugged. A group of about five decided to charge Goku, using their bodies as blunt weapons. For clay, it made surprisingly solid noises when it hit things.

Two attempted to grab Goku from each side while the others moved in.

When there are victims involved, Trini knows where her priorities lie. As the Yellow Ranger, she makes a straight line to the fountain, calling out to the--are those putties?

"Hey! Over here guys!" She taunted her adversaries, hoping to take their attention off the poor civilians tied to the statue.

G was sitting in the sidelines, hidden away by his clever illusions as he watched the battle unfold. He wanted to make sure he knew what was going on as well as seeing just how well these other 'chosen' fought.

Nightgale was not about to risk her neck out for weaklings, though she did have an eye on the child. He'd be the only one she'd probably go out of her way to save. Him or any other children in the line of danger that she could spot.

Over the chaos of the battle, Billy doesn't quite hear the voice. He ducks, allows the putties to roll off him, and stabs with abandon. His priorities are to show the new Rangers what to do and finish this quickly, and he really doesn't want a drawn-out fight.

As he works closer to the center, he sees a familiar helmet. Naturally, he moved to stand a few feet from her and called out.

"I'll get the other half, A----"

He remembers now how serious this situation is. Probably better not to risk giving their identities away. He simply nods at the Ranger he thinks is Aisha and moves in, drawing the baddies out with a crooked finger.

She nods, "Understood!" And leads her half of the putties away from the fountain and leading them to the street.

Typically she'd say to look both ways, but if there's any chance of incoming traffic, she'll want these suckers to ran straight into it.

With a burst of speed and lithe movement, she flips over a parked car, jumping onto its hood. With as little room as there is for her, only one putty would be able to make it up at a time, which means she can taken them down without so much as breaking a sweat.

Goku broke out into a wide, excited grin; nothing like a good fight to get the blood pumping! "Nyoi-bo, extend!"

The staff in his hands grew rapidly in length, catching one of his opponents in the stomach and knocking the clay body aside. Using the bo as an impromptu pole vault, Goku quickly skipped ahead to the top of another car a short distance away, further from any bystanders that might remain on the street.

"Heh heh! Come an' get it!"

Billy makes quick work of his half of the group, though he gets some banging-up for his trouble. After one particularly outrageous throw over a car, he comes back swinging.

He watches the Yellow Ranger go with a little smile. One Putty attempts to climb the trunk and the other tries to attack from the side, but their attempts on her ankles are clumsy. Billy knows she can take it.

He just dodges being thrown aside---there, dispatch of them too. But that's when he notices something. Aisha's a dancer. Her movements in battle are sweeping and almost rhythmic. The Ranger in front of him is direct in battle. No less graceful, but clearly a martial artist.

Trini...?

He's energized even more to finish this battle quickly. He's grateful that anyone he knows is still alive, but he really needs to talk to Trini.

One by one, down they went. Things seem to be going smoothly for Trini, and she's ready to regroup with Billy near the fountain when one of the putties' hands snatches up and seizes her by the ankle.

It surprises her, but not enough to put her in any danger. With a quick battle cry, she jerks a leg up and pummels the monster in the face with the heel of her boot. Using it as a jumping-off point, she lands back near the fountain, touching base with the Blue Ranger.

"Here, help me un-tie them." She waved towards the victims still trapped on the statue. If they each get one side, they'd get them free in no time.

Hopefully there weren't more putties on the way...

Done. Billy makes his way over and breaks his lance in two, gently using the tip to cut the rope. He gently reassures the frightened citizens---there's a lot of hubbub about, they haven't seen Rangers in these costumes in almost 40 years.

When everyone's free and it looks like the battle on this street is over for now, he drops his voice when he's sure other people are out of earshot. "...Trini, is that you?"

Trini watches the people attentively as they retreat, making sure that they're actually safe before averting her attention to Billy.

"You sound surprised to see me." Once a Ranger, always a Ranger, right? It was like getting back on a bike.

She steps closer, keeping her voice low and looking down. "We can catch up later, right? Right now it's..."

It's not safe yet, is it? Not just for the citizens, for them.

Of course he was surprised! Billy looked indignant beneath the helmet, about to ask her what she was playing at---but then it hit him. She must've just warped in. She didn't know.

Oh wow, she didn't know. There wasn't time to break the news properly, was there? He cursed under his breath, then shook his head.

"That's an understatement. But there's no time to explain. I'll tell you as soon as I can, all right?"

And then, before he lost his nerve, he darted forward and gave her a brief but fierce hug. Then he was taking off in the direction of the other Rangers, ready to help them.

Like fools, they did. The soldiers leapt and gave chase, trying to surround Goku. But they weren't quite fast enough, were they?

Perhaps these solders would need a little help.

A group flipped over a car and tried to toss it at Goku, throwing hard.

Trini lets out a startled yelp and laughs when Billy scoops her up, not quite sure what happened until long after he let her go and moved on. She readjusted her helmet a bit...well, that was...

Something must've happened. But what?

Ah, well. All the more reason to get this matter under control. Standing around wasn't going to get them back home any sooner!

Except that the car got intercepted by a large blue fireball that knocked it aside in a powerful explosion. Said fireball seemed to be the size of a hot air balloon and stopped in mid air after knocking the car away.

In that moment, the fireball grew eyes and a sinister mouth and even laughed at the soldiers before rushing at the ones who had tossed the car and beginning to envelop them in the flames of the fox fire.

G of course remained in the illusion that hid him. He only felt likelending a slight hand to the kid.

Goku looked up in surprise as the fireball suddenly intercepted the car and exploded -- he'd been all ready to take the thing on.

"What the heck?" A quick look around revealed no trace of whatever had caused the fire, but since it was helping and not hurting, he'd just go with it for now!

He hopped down from his perch, then extended the nyoi-bo again, using it to sweep several of the soldiers off their feet. A flurry of punches and kicks followed as he took on several at once.

As the biggest threat, they continued to concentrate on Goku. There was no saying what had caused the fireball, so they simply ignored it and all tried to pile on Goku at once.

That was going to end well for them. The boss would have to make the monsters grow---and quickly.

G kept his distance, the kid seemed to have been telling the truth about his skills... He'd wait and see if he needed any help, but if the previous display was any indication, he wouldn't need to step up unless they tried some bullshit like with the car.

Goku leapt nimbly from one spot to the next, even landing on the shoulders of one of the soldiers to lure its friend into slugging it in the face by mistake. While his small size meant that he didn't have quite as long a reach as his adult opponents did, it also meant that Goku was a hard target to hit -- and he knew it.

He blew another away with a palm strike and laughed, clearly enjoying the challenge.

They kept coming, agitated now. One hopped in the car and attempted to crush him, but only succeeded in driving into a pole. That resulted in a nice explosion, though---hopefully everyone was clear out of harm's way.

G smirked, the kid really wasn't all talk after all, and better yet? He was enjoying himself. That ever made Nightgale's heart warm up as G relaxed against the nearby wall and simply crossed his arms. The kid wouldn't need help anytime soon.
